The interview itself typically lasts between 20 to 30 minutes and may involve the hiring manager and store supervisor. If they are hiring for multiple positions, it is not uncommon to be asked to do a group interview.
The average time it takes for a brand representative or retail associate to complete the hiring process is two weeks. Prospective brand representatives can fill out an application in the store or online. Those applying at a store location are sometimes interviewed the same day. Those applying online will be called and screened before being asked to come in for an interview.
The interview may be done one-on-one with the hiring manager(s), or you may be asked to come in for a group interview. A one-on-one interview may last 15 to 20 minutes, while a group interview may last 30 to 45 minutes.
All supervisory roles, including assistant store managers, managers-in-training, and store managers, are required to do several interviews that include meeting with the district managers. Managerial interviews at Abercrombie generally last about 30 to 60 minutes. Most managerial interview questions focus on leading teams and ensuring customer care.
Depending on the location and number of applicants, the group interview usually ranges from about four to six people and lasts 30 to 40 minutes. In group interviews, the hiring manager will allow each candidate to answer a few questions, which tend to focus on their personality and brand awareness.
How could you approach a customer?
When approaching a customer, I would smile and make eye contact. I would then ask if they need help finding anything or if they have any questions. I would be sure to be friendly and helpful, while also respecting their personal space.
How would you help a customer who is having trouble looking for a pair of jeans?
If a customer is having trouble looking for a pair of jeans, I would help them by asking them what style of jeans they are looking for.
