This is my interview experience at Aditya Birla Minacs (formerly Transworks). I am presently employed at this company & love my job. This is my 3rd job & prior to joining this company I had about 4 years of experience. I had been to a Job Consulting Agency called Personal Netrwork located on Dickenson Road at Manipal Center in Bangalore. The day was sometime in year 2006 in the month of July (sometime last week). It was a nice sunny saturday & the crowd at consultancy was too big as it was weekend & most of them normally get free on weekends. The profile I had applied for was a Team Leader position in Information Technology Department of Transworks. The consultancies normally get some compensation from the companies on placement of every candidate. Initial round of inrerview was with the consultancy & in this round they just analyze our communication skills, etc & based on it they send the candidate to the company HR. I attended this round & consultancy found my communication is pretty good & they just send a mail to the company HR for the post of Call Center Team Leader. When I visited the company I was unaware that consultancy had send my profile to wrong place. I went to company & met a person whom I was asked to meet by the consultancy. The interview started & I was asked number of questions which was not related to profile I had applied. I thought it could be part of the company process & waited for questions relating to IT & Technology. While I was still waiting, the interviewer told its over & I was made to wait for 30 mins. Later another person from HR came & handed me a appointment letter stating I was selected. I saw the profile was Team Lead for call center process. I was shocked to see & was totally puzzled. I approached the HR department & told I had applied for post of Team Lead in IT. The HR immmediately called the consultancy & inquired regarding my application. On question them, they said my technology skill set was not good & hence they referred me for call center. I told the HR I never had a technical round at consultancy. The HR immediately arranged for a technical round with IT manager. I did it well & much to the expectation of companys requirement. The HR not only apologised for the goof up by consultancy but also gave me appointment letter for post of Team Lead in IT the same day. Later I learnt that the commission what consultancy gets for call center placement is much higher than that of any other profiles. This was both good & bad experience. Bad because what consultancy did to me & good because the company HR was courteous enough to understand my issue & sort it out within no time. I am still in this company & every time I meet that HR, we have a good chat. It is one experience I loved to share, so candidates appearing for interviews at consultancies be aware of process.
