Job interviews can be incredibly nerve-wracking for many. The next time you get the call up for an interview, I want you to try and remember that the interview is a 2-way street. Reframe it to a conversation, and a chance for you to gauge whether this is the right company and opportunity for you.
You should always be prepared to ask questions that will demonstrate your genuine interest in the position and company, and which will enable you to gain information for your own decision making.
It may be appropriate to ask questions during the interview and not just at the end in response to the interviewer’s question ‘Do you have any questions?’
During your interview preparation, ensure that you are familiar with the values, types or environments, team culture and management style that you hold strongly, and prepare specific questions based on those.
Be sure to ask for business cards on wrapping up the conversation, so you can send a personalised thank you note to each interviewer within 24 hours, reiterating your interest in and suitability for the role.

AVERITY USES A FIVE-POINT SYSTEM TO ENSURE THE THREE MOST IMPORTANT ATTRIBUTES NEEDED TO ENSURE A QUALITY HIRE WITHIN TECHNICAL RECRUITING: ARE THEY QUALIFIED? ARE THEY INTERESTED? ARE THEY AVAILABLE?
We start by building a marketing campaign specific to the organization. With the aid of our proprietary technology platform, we brainstorm as a team to find candidates in our collective network that could be a potential fit for the new role. We then reach out to our network via multi-channel advertising, email marketing, networking events that we manage and sponsor, and direct communication.
We speak to potential candidates in detail to find out what they are really looking for and what’s most important to them, their current technical skills and abilities, articulation and communication skills, reason for leaving their current and recent positions, industry expertise, desired compensation, and resume accuracy. We then gauge their level of interest in the position and address their other motivating factors.
We then market your specific company and role to the candidate based on our conversation and research into your organization
We work with you and your team to coordinate interview times and to make sure both sides are well prepared for each interview throughout the process.
We take the time to prepare the candidate on your organization and the people they are interviewing with, so our clients do not have to repeat themselves. Averitys candidates are the most prepared candidates you will meet
We are in constant communication with both the candidate and client. Our goal throughout the interview process is to constantly gauge both sides interest in the role, where this role ranks in comparison to other potential opportunities/candidates, gather honest feedback from both sides and provide that to each other. We will keep you updated on any other offers that are expected. If they are receiving or making another offer or are close to one, you will be the first to know. We will not rush our anyone just to “close the deal.” We are transparent with everyone we interact with.
Chris has an impeccable reputation within technology recruiting in New York, NY. He started Averity from his dining room table in 2014 with a dream to pioneer a change in an industry. At Averity, he leads a true culture of service.
When Chris isn’t playing with his 2 daughters or traveling with his incredible wife, he is recruiting for Open Source Engineers in New York City. Chris has almost 20 years of recruiting and staffing experience on a National level with over 10 years in New York City, both contract and full time.
